Kelley’s Island Poker Paddle

The 2019 Kelley’s Island Poker Paddle will be Saturday September 14th.

Typically sign up is at 9 at the Kelley’s Island State Park beach and everybody launches at 10.

It is at Kelley’s Island, in Lake Erie. That is close to Sandusky Ohio.

Most paddlers make a full weekend of it.  It’s at the Ohio State Campground on Kelley’s Island.
A handful of Falcon Sailors make a long Thursday thru Sunday week end of it.

It is a fund raiser a Lake Erie Conservation group.

Falcon Sails is not involved with the Poker Paddle, but there are a lot of Falcon Sailors that are there.
It is a great opportunity to get out on the lake and meet Kayak Sailors as well as paddle only kayakers.
Everybody is invited.  It would be great to see you and your paddling and no paddling friends as well.

Kelley’s Island is a great paddling location with very interesting rocky shore lines, and beach shores.
There is a great beach at the park, and many miles of great hiking to do on the Island.

You can find wind exposed or sheltered water depending on the side of the Island you paddle on.
It is a really nice place to ride a bike on safe island roads and very nice mountain bike trails on 3 different parks on the island.

The fee to enter the poker paddle is typically about $10.

This time of year the weather is highly variable. The wind is usually really good a couple days and the weather is typically calm and beautiful a couple days.
